After being a gymnast for 12 years, pole vault came easy for me. I tried the event half way through my freshman track season and fell in love with it. My first year I vaulted my best at regionals (9ft), but missed going to the state meet by 1 scratch. I was back and ready for competition my sophomore year. I competed in a few indoor meets and broke our school record with 10'6" at the second meet of the season. I continued to set new goals all season and kept breaking my school record. I also broke the sectional and regional records and went to the state meet with high hopes. I cleared 12ft to earn 3rd place and set my new personal record. My junior year was a little rough because after setting a new PR of 12'6", I was out most of the outdoor season with an injury. I finished 10th at the state meet and then 9th at nationals. This summer I am attending a couple other fun competitions that I am looking forward to. Unfortunetly, I did not accomplish all my goals this year, but I still look positively towards the future. My goal is to clear 14ft by the end of my high school career.

Although pole vault is my favorite event, I also run sprints and long jump. Usually a typical track meet is very busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way because I love to help my team in any way that I can. My personal record in long jump my sophomore year was 17'5". And just one inch shy of that earned me 9th place at the state meet.
